Scholarships

The Piedmont Rotary Club dedicates more funds to student scholarships each year that any other cause.

Qualified candidates from Clearwater High School usually rank in the top 10% of their class based on GPA and must not be related to a Rotarian.

A selection committee made up of Rotarians and school counselors narrow the list to five based on a variety of factors including financial need, student access to other scholarship funds, etc.

The five finalists are invited to appear before the Rotary Club and talk in some detail about their career plans and goals. Members may ask questions to gain clarification or greater insight. Because of time constraints students are asked to limit their comments to five minutes.

Rotary members cast ballots for their nominee of choice and the candidate with the most votes is awarded the one year scholarship. Often the competition is very close and, if sufficient funds are available, scholarships may be awarded to the top two or even three candidates.

Photographs of scholarship winners may be requested and news releases submitted to the local media.

"Make Dreams Real"
is what Rotary is all about. Today, Piedmont Rotarians are committed to both local and international service projects that make a difference and impact lives. Looking for a place to "give back" to the community? Then, I personally invite you to visit our club!
